Nestled in the vibrant heart of Brooklyn at 1035 Cortelyou Rd, Mimi's Brooklyn offers an authentic taste of Israeli and Middle Eastern cuisine that immediately transports you to the rich culinary landscapes of the Mediterranean and Levant. This cozy, charming restaurant invites diners to indulge in dishes that are bursting with bold, vibrant flavors and carefully crafted with fresh, quality ingredients.
From the very first bite, Mimi’s Brooklyn showcases the finest staples of Middle Eastern cooking. Their Hummus and Pita feature a luxuriously creamy texture that's both silky and rich, perfect for dipping into warm, freshly toasted bread. The Chicken Shawarma is a standout, imbued with robust, aromatic spices that yield tender, juicy meat – each bite offers a harmony of smoky, savory goodness balanced with bright, fresh toppings.
For those seeking a lighter, yet packed-with-flavor option, the Kebab Bowl delivers perfectly grilled beef nestled atop herb-infused rice, grilled vegetables, and a drizzle of tahini, accented with pine nuts and just the right touch of jalapeño for a subtle kick. Seafood lovers will appreciate the delicate Branzino Bowl, where fish is elevated with Persian lime and hearty lentil stew. Vegetarians are equally well-served by delights such as the Green Shakshuka or the hearty Mimi’s Shakshuka, featuring a vibrant tomato stew with sunny-side-up eggs and pita, accompanied by a fresh quinoa tabbouleh salad.
Dessert here offers a sweet finale that is equally memorable. The Malabi – rose water milk pudding garnished with poached seasonal fruit and pistachios – is a fragrant, creamy treat that melts on the tongue. Other treats like the Punchim chocolate balls and Almond Cake soaked in honey syrup offer traditional Middle Eastern sweetness with a modern touch.
The atmosphere at Mimi’s Brooklyn adds to the dining experience with its intimate, welcoming vibe. Though the space is on the smaller side, the thoughtful, friendly service and attention to detail – from the carefully chosen silverware to the elegant water glasses – create an inviting ambiance perfect for casual lunches or relaxed takeout meals. Outdoor seating options offer a chance to soak in the lively Brooklyn energy while savoring your meal.
Customer feedback speaks volumes about the quality and authenticity of Mimi’s offerings. Katharine F shared her relief and delight in discovering the new location, praising the generous portions and delicious flavors of the Mimi’s Shawarma Platter. Anna K was captivated by the zesty, fresh zataar pita and the vibrant hummus, while Lisa S found the menu impressively varied and the prices fair, highlighting the roasted cauliflower and chicken shawarma as flavorful favorites.
Bach Nguyen’s glowing review of Mimi’s Platter, featuring perfectly seasoned lamb kebabs, crunchy farro tabbouleh, and tender carrots, encapsulates the restaurant’s ability to balance textures and tastes, with a particular nod to their hummus described as “chef’s kiss.” Grace Langton’s heartfelt comment about her mother’s visit further underscores the consistently delightful experience, especially applauding the best falafel in the area and the meticulous presentation that elevates the meal setting.
Mimi’s Brooklyn isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a culinary gem where the passion for traditional Middle Eastern and Israeli food is palpable and perfectly plated. Whether you’re craving the comfort of a classic hummus or eager to explore zesty, spice-laden dishes with fresh, vibrant ingredients, Mimi’s delivers an authentic experience that keeps guests returning for more.
As someone who almost didn’t order because of the recent negative reviews I am so glad I gave this restaurant a try. Mimi’s Shwarma Platter was delicious as well as a generous portion of chicken, rice and the side salads. I didn’t experience the old location but I’ll be a repeat customer of the new spot for takeout or casual dine-in. The cakes looked delicious too, and I liked the selection of to-go and pantry items.
Food is exceptional. Their zataar pita was so good, I had to buy some for home. Also love their fresh hummus. Their braided beets are also delicious. Staff is nice but had to be reminded about our missing pita from the platter. Wish they had more seating. Their outdoor seating at their old location looked better than the new one.
Wow — absolutely delicious to the last bite. I had the Mimi’s Platter with beautifully seasoned lamb kebab, crunchy farro tabbouleh, and tender carrots. The hummus was chef’s kiss, and the pickles had the perfect snap — great texture without being too sour. So glad to have this spot nearby. Can’t wait to come back.
I stopped by this charming little place this weekend for lunch. The service and food here is really good. I ordered the roasted cauliflower and the chicken shawarma. Both were very tasty and had good flavors. They have a decent sized menu in spite of the place being small, and the prices are reasonable, in my opinion. Now, don't be alarmed that they do outdoor dining only because they make sure that the greenhouse setup outside is comfortable for the customers. Inside, they also have a little store that sells food, beverages (including beer), plants, and baked goods. I definitely recommend and I will most certainly stop by again in the near future.
My mom, who is visiting me from out of town, absolutely loved Mimi’s! She said this is the best restaurant meal she has had in months. Such a cute little place for lunch! Their decor — even down to the silverware & water glasses — was absolutely amazing! Such a cute place! The falafel was probably the best falafel I’ve ever had in the area — and I’m vegetarian so that’s saying a lot! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The staff was so lovely, especially the woman in the front that mentioned she had a daughter! She was so thoughtful and kind. My mom was very impressed after visiting here, and as a local, so was I!
Hired Mimi's for our wedding catering and it was incredible! Multiple guests have said to me afterwards that the food was incredible with some even saying it was the best wedding food they've ever had! I am a private chef so you KNOW I needed good food at my wedding. My husband and I went to multiple wedding caterers and did tastings and to me, it was all boring wedding food. When we did our tasting with Mimi, I just new it was the one. The food was actually restaurant-quality and you can tell it is cooked with love and passion. Also, very reasonably priced for wedding catering cuz that can be verrry expensive! Mimi was super sweet and even came on a site visit with us so that she knew what the kitchen was like. I couldn't be happier- actually I could...if I had actually gotten to eat some of the delicious dessert they served but I was too busy cutting the cake when that happened...well, I guess that will have to be at my next wedding! Juuust kidding. Anyways, thank you so much, Mimi, we couldn't be happier with everything you did for us!
Loved the food. I actually only ordered takeout, but I have walked past many times in the neighborhood and it is such a charming little place from the outside. This evening I decided to order the branzino. It comes skin-side up on a bed of long grain rice and lentils. The fish was perfectly cooked, almost buttery, with a light flavor of good olive oil, lemon, and something simple and delicious that I can’t even identify (possibly an herb). I thought the portion looked small, but it was actually exactly perfect for a weeknight dinner. I will certainly be dining in next time I have company in town. Update: no more branzino but they have a great salmon dish that I also recommend.
The best hummus this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Seriously that good. Came here on a recommendation from a friend and I was not disappointed. The service was A+ and again the hummus was out of this world good. Will definitely be back for the hummus and try some of their other items on the menu.
